The sculptures also bring a note of Pop Art into the Plaza landscape, creating a playful visual dialogue with Claes Oldenburg’s iconic Shuttlecocks on the grounds of the Nelson-Atkins.

The color, movement and interplay of lines and circles were also informed by two works at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art: Claude Monet’s Water Lilies and Walter De Maria’s One Sun/34 Moons .
